Warning: spoilers ahead for Ahsoka.
The arrival of Ahsoka on Disney Plus has pleased legions of Star Wars fans, particularly those who have already seen the animated episodes The Clone Wars and Rebels.
However, one detail involving a lightsaber duel between Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) and dark Force user Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno) has left a few of viewers perplexed.
In the first two episodes, Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) is reunited with her old pupil Sabine in the hope that she can assist her in reading a chart that would take them to the wicked Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen).
Sabine stealthily returns the map to her house and opens the odd orb, but is unable to read it by the time Shin arrives to take it away.
An exciting lightsaber battle unfolds, culminating with Shin slashing Sabine through the stomach in what appears to be a deadly blow.
However, it is shown at the start of episode two that Sabine survived the wound and is being repaired by droids.
Several Star Wars fans voiced their surprise at the turn of events on Twitter, questioning Sabine’s ability to survive such severe damage.
They were also compared to the death of Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace in 1999, when he was stabbed in the stomach by Darth Maul (Ray Park) during their lightsaber combat.
While Sabine could be cured… Qui-Gon (Ewan McGregor) died in the arms of his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi.
‘Qui-Gon was stabbed in the stomach with a saber, he died. Sabine was stabbed in the stomach with a saber, she lives…’ one befuddled fan wrote.

Two problems right away, first: *Spoilers obviously* Sabine getting stabbed in the stomach without any real consequences other than her being abscend most of Episode 2, Qui-Gon Fr is just a idiot at this point lmao #Ahsoka

Another noted Reva (Moses Ingram) surviving a similar injury in the TV series Obi-Wan Kenobi.
‘Star Wars needs to start killing off characters. The constant stabs in the side and stomach that characters always survive makes no battle have any stakes cause you know they won’t kill anyone off. Reva should’ve died. Sabine should’ve died. #ahsoka,’ they said.
‘I don’t know how I feel about yet again someone getting stabbed in the stomach by a lightsaber and surviving…’ someone else wrote, while another added: ‘Everyone gets stabbed in the stomach with a lightsaber and lives. Everyone except Qui-Gon Jinn.’
Perhaps it’s just that in the Star Wars universe, medical techniques had evolved by the time Reva and Sabine suffered such severe wounds? Or that Qui-Gon was too badly injured for aid to arrive in time?
At the end of the day, we’d be quite sad if Sabine’s story ended abruptly, so we’re not complaining!
Ahsoka is available to watch on Disney Plus with new episodes released on Wednesdays.
