A Big Brother housemate was caught off guard after mentioning Holly Willoughby, oblivious to the fact that the This Morning anchor had departed the programme.
Holly, 42, abruptly announced her departure from the ITV breakfast show earlier this month, after the departure of her former co-host Phillip Schofield, 61.
Holly stated in a post on social media that it was a ‘tough farewell’ and thanked ‘loyal and supportive’ followers.
While her departure was big news across the country, it didn’t reach the reality TV show’s competitors, who had been walled off from the outside world in recent weeks.
Holly left the house three days after they moved in.
As a result, many viewers were taken aback when Kerry Riches referenced Holly when discussing This Morning.
The NHS worker, 40, startled fans watching the live broadcast early Thursday morning when she predicted Holly would be discussing her.
Kerry told fellow housemate Dylan Tennant she thought Holly and Alison Hammond would be chatting about her because she was ‘so funny’, as reported by the Daily Mail.
‘Kerry just said “Alison and Holly will be talking about this on This Morning and someone will say, Oh Kerry is very funny”. Who’s going to tell her?’ one viewer posted on X, formerly Twitter.
‘Kerry: “Alison Hammond and Holly will be talking about us on This Morning”. Awks,’ someone else wrote.
Another added: ‘Little does she know!’
Someone else wrote: ‘Poor Kerry getting her hopes up about being noticed by Holly… she’ll have a right shock when she leaves the house.’
Kerry has been in hot water several times since joining the house, the most recent time when she was chastised for using a ‘awful and antiquated’ insult.
The incident occurred on the event’s live broadcast following the main show on Sunday.
A prank by Olivia and Jenkin saw Kerry’s luxury mattress hidden, to which she replied: ‘F**king hell, now I have a f**king wet pillow, what a t**t.’
She then said: ‘This is gay.’
Viewers called her out, with one saying: ‘I genuinely haven’t heard someone use that expression in about 10 years, shockingly awful and outdated. Actually even surprised Kerry would say it on TV.’
Kerry, we believe, was reminded of her respect and inclusiveness training prior to the series and apologised for any offence.
A spokesperson for Big Brother said she was ‘brought to the diary room to discuss her inappropriate use of language’.
‘Big Brother reminded Kerry of her respect and inclusion training prior to entering the House and the consequences of any further use of offensive language.’
They added she ‘understood and apologised for any offense caused.’
Big Brother continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
