This Morning viewers were ecstatic to see Holly Willoughby return to the daytime show, but it’s not what you think.
The 42-year-old former This Morning host announced her departure from the ITV daytime show earlier this year, calling it a “difficult goodbye.”
The edition on Wednesday was hosted by Rylan Clarke and Emma Willis, and as 2023 comes to a close, it included a collection of the finest show portions from the year.
Craig Doyle, 53, who has been a frequent stand-in since Phillip Schofield‘s departure, joined Holly as they spoke with Broadway icon Idina Menzel.
The 42-year-old mother of three questioned the Broadway star on the 10th anniversary of Frozen as well as her role as Wicked’s green witch, Elphaba.
However, fans who had only recently turned in to the broadcast wondered what the Dancing on Ice host was doing back on the screen.
And This Morning viewers couldn’t help but chuckle.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, @andread48070873 shared: ‘Viewers just switching on will think Holly’s back!’
@Claire added: ‘Have I missed something? Holly is back but not full-time. Or am I jumping to conclusions here?’
@MissLionHeart weighed in: ‘Calm your t**s, guys, it’s a compilation clip. Holly hasn’t actually returned #ThisMorning.’
Holly has yet to announce whether she will return to Dancing On Ice, with new rumours claiming that Stephen Mulhern has replaced Phillip Schofield on the show.
Schofield, 61, left This Morning and resigned from ITV after confessing to a ‘unwise but not criminal’ affair, and his replacement has yet to be announced.
Holly was claimed to be ‘in a great state’ about her choice to return to the competition, which is set to begin in just a few weeks, with the line-up already confirmed.
A source has now claimed that Holly is ‘not rushing to make a decision and is putting it to the side for now to enjoy the festive period with her children.’
The insider added to The Sun: ‘Holly is expected to make her decision in the new year.’
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
