Amy Dowden has stated that her spirits are still strong despite the fact that she is undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
The professional dancer, who has competed on Strictly Come Dancing since 2017, disclosed in May that she had breast cancer at the age of 32.
Amy discovered a lump in her breast while preparing for her honeymoon with husband Ben Jones, which turned out to be cancer.
In the months afterwards, she’s had a single mastectomy and began chemotherapy, and she was forced to withdraw from the BBC series this year after doctors discovered new cancers.
She detailed earlier this week how her hair began to come out and has now stated that, despite some small setbacks, she will be able to return home shortly.
‘And I’m going home to my own bed! Thanks again to the marvellous NHS!’ she shared on Instagram on Wednesday night.
‘Got some blood clots but I’m feeling good other than a sore and swollen arm.
‘Another hurdle along this journey. But again forever grateful to the NHS and my heroes around me.’
She added: ‘Can’t wait to get into my own bed since Monday though 😜💖🎀🙏 #nhs #canceryoung #chemotherapy #myownbed #nhsheroes.’
Her Strictly Come Dancing co-stars extended their best wishes, with Gorka Marquez adding with a number of red love heart emojis before saying, ‘You got this.’
Motsi Mabuse, a judge, added two red love hearts, while actress Emma Barton said, ‘You are amazing.’
Amy said on Sunday that her second round of chemotherapy treatment has resulted in her “hair shredding,” which she described as “heartbreaking.”
She captioned a video of her falling hair, ‘The truth when I gently comb,’ with a broken heart emoji.
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC later this year.
