Traitors fans were stunned when Traitor Paul exploited his own son to attempt to avoid exile.
The second season of the compelling reality series premiered last week, with four Traitors chosen this time around.
One of them was 36-year-old company manager Paul Gorton.
After doing everything he could to distract suspicions away from himself and instead attempting to have his fellow Traitor Ash exiled at two roundtables, things became desperate.
During last night’s episode, four members of the gang were forced to spend the day in a dungeon, with the Traitors electing to send two of their own down in the hopes of alleviating the heat.
However, plan backfired badly, and when it came time to decide who would be sent home next, Paul rapidly panicked.
When it was revealed that he had not been rescued from being slain, he leaped in to argue his case.
‘Whoever chose to send me down to the dungeon that is a genius move because I now feel like I am going home, but I was thinking today about my little boy and I am kind of ready, type of thing,’ he said.
His acting skills were then on show.
As Paul pretended to fight back tears, he appeared to be distraught and said he didn’t want to ‘put any names out there’ after ‘spending eight hours underground’.
Others instantly supported him up, claiming that he was a Faithful.
People watching from home couldn’t get enough.
‘The fake tears – I’m sorry but Paul is an evil genius,’ Olivia McGhie posted on X.
‘Paul is the best player this game has ever seen. Absolute genius,’ Chris Lockyer posted.
‘Love him or hate him but Paul literally using his own child in a desperate attempt to gain sympathy gave me goosebumps *chefs kiss*,’ Courtney Freeguard added.

His strategy appeared to succeed, with Ash being the one sent packing.
This is not Paul’s first appearance on television.
In 2010, he featured on Channel 4’s Deal or No Deal, and at the age of 22, he starred in the four-part series Quest For The Backflip, which highlighted his passion for BMX riding.
The Traitors continues at 9pm on ITV1.
